Hackintosh Yosemite on biostar a880G mobo

Hackintosh Yosemite Installer stop at [PCI Configuration Begin]
On my last test on running hackintosh yosemite on my AMD machine, the installer stop/hang at [PCI Configuration Begin]. I have tried all possible combination of kernel parameter and it still stuck at [PCI Configuration Begin]. Then i tried to find the answer by asking on many forums. Some of the answer i've got was to tried it with other graphic card. At that time, i don't have any spare graphic card to try, but yesterday, i manage to borrow one old pci-e graphic card to test it on my AMD machine.

Windows tips #1. How to save list of files in a drive to a text file

Last week i need to list the files in one of my backup drive. Then i decided to make that list saved in a text file. Because i think this trick is useful for others, i decided to make a video tips on how to do that. Enjoy..

Installing hackintosh yosemite on my virtualbox

A photo posted by frankie guy (@freakyjohn101) on

It's been a month since i've tried installing vanilla yosemite installer with various custom kext with zero result. At my last try, i've download the hackintosh-zone distro, with pessimistic frame of mind, i try to run it in my virtualbox and what a surprise, IT WORKS...

Creating Debian Jessie live media using netinstaller iso

Why using netinstall iso?
Well... nothing really special behind my choice of source installation medium, but i already download the net install iso and i really don't want to re-download the base system for my debian jessie system.

What's the requirement for making this minimal live system installation?
a working debian system, in my case a debian lenny system
debootstrap
chroot
mksquashfs
syslinux
genisoimage
an internet connection

Now, here's the step to create debian jessie live media:

1. Mount netinstall iso
    root@lennycom:/# mount -o loop <YOUR-ISO-LOCATION> <YOUR-MOUNT-LOCATION>

in my case, my iso is at /media/Data1/debian-8.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso  and my mount location is at /media/unt, so the command is:
    root@lennycom:/# mount -o loop /media/Data1/debian-8.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso /media/unt

2. Create new folder and rename it to livemedia-try1. go to the livemedia-try1 folder and create new folder, then rename it to liveimage.

    root@lennycom:/# mkdir /media/Data2/livemedia-try1
    root@lennycom:/# cd /media/Data2/livemedia-try1
    root@lennycom:/media/Data2/livemedia-try1# mkdir liveImage
    root@lennycom:/media/Data2/livemedia-try1# mkdir liveImage/live

Exploding Teapot Tutorial

Exploding things are some of the most common effect in many movies and tv. In this tutorial we'll learn how to create a basic explosion effect using blender 3D. This tutorial is using version 2.75a of Blender 3D.

Step 0: Preparation
Because the teapot object is part of extra object add-on for blender, we have to make sure that the extra object add-on is enabled. To enable the extra objects add-on, first click File tab and select User preferences. Select/click the Add-ons tab if not selected yet. On Catagories subsection click Add Mesh to filter the add-ons. Click the Extra Objects checkbox.

Modeling a barbell equipment in Blender 3D

Step 0: Preparation
In this step we do a little research for dimensions and standards for the model to make the model look proportional. Several dimension standards that we’ll use were:
  •  Barbell bar length
  • Barbell bar diameter
  • Barbell disk diameter and thickness
Barbell bar length standard was 1.2 meter to 2.2 meter. For this tutorial we will use 2.2 meter for the barbell bar length. Barbell bar diameter is between 25-51mm, for this tutorial we’ll use 50mm as the diameter of the bar. Next we’ll write down some standards for the barbell disk. Common diameter for  15Kg of barbell disk is roughly 360mm or 36cm, thickness is roughly 3cm and bore hole diameter is roughly 5cm.
After we get the reference dimension for our model, now we open blender and start modeling, but before we start modeling, we should set our scene to the proper unit. Because the dimension we gather were in metric system, we should adjust our blender scene into metric system. Click the scene panel in blender panels, then under Units subsection click the metric button to make our scene into a metric system.

Render testing a hair from swam3d in blender

After unsucessful attempt to create my own hair model last week, this week i decided to try free hair model that i found online. Daz and/or Poser characters had many users, and many of those users have been contributing back to daz and poser communities by giving 3d models for free. For this experiment, i choose 'Renella Hair' from swam3d.com. For those who want to download the files, you can get it at swam3d.com.

Experimenting with blender hair

After i was able to import and play with my genesis character  from daz3d in blender, the next thing i want to try is to give it a hair. I know that there's a bunch of daz 3d hair for genesis out there that i can use for my character, but i want to try creating my own hair using blender system. For the past two weeks i've been trying to create a simple hair for my genesis character and so far the results were not good.

Dumping render test pics...

Just dumping some render test pics.

I Just found bump node on blender

Its been a while since i play with my 3d program blender. Last time i posted here, i was searching a way to use bump map with blender. at that time i don’t know weather bump node for cycles rendering engine already exist or not... most of the tutorial i find online was a quick hack for using bump texture into cycles renderer. if it was exist at that time, i probably didn’t notice the bump node that cycles had. Today while i was playing with my blender, i notice that there’s a bump node under the vector subsection of blender node for cycles.

Trying another sculpt

Just trying another sculpt using sculptris. This time i tried to sculpt an ear and here's the result.

Normal map vs bump map on blender 2.61

In blender 2.61 there are two internal renderers. First one is blender rendering engine and the second is cycles rendering engine. In this post i want to compare the use of normal map between those two renderer, but after i search around i notice that cycles rendering engine don't have the ability to render normal map yet, so i decided to compare between normal map in blender engine vs bump/displacement map in cycles and see compare the result.

Scene preparation
For scene preparation i create these objects:
1. Standard box object, beveled two times
2. Suzanne monkey mesh object
3. Ground plane as a ground for those other two objects.

My first mouth sculpt using sculptris

Several days ago i tried to use sculptris to sculpt a mouth. Now i just want to post the result of my sculpting, here you go...

Transfering texture from hi-poly to low-poly object

One of the modeling tool i use other than blender is sculptris. Other than sculpting, sculptris can also do a texture painting to the model. This time i want to know how blender can transfer texture from hi poly model to a low poly model so in the future if i'm importing the 3d model i sculpt from sculptris to blender i will know how transfer its texture to a low poly model.

For now i won't model anything in sculptris, i will use the standard cube from blender instead.

Learn to move object from python in blender 2.5

hi there...
this is my first post in this personal learning log and this time i want to log my experience on learning a python script inside blender 2.58.

What i want to know?
What i want to learn is how do we move object in blender using a python script. To learn this i use the default scene from blender.

In blender default scene, we have one Cube object, one camera and one pointlight. The object i'm trying to move using python script is the Cube and i want to move it 2 units in X axis.
